CHERTHALA: A complaint has been lodged against a CPM leader for collecting money at the flood relief camp in Cherthala South Panchayat. Omanakuttan, a CPM local leader collected money at the camp. However, his explanation was that he collected money to bring electricity to the camp. Now power is taken to the community hall functioning as the camp from the house of an individual. Those in the camp are giving money for it.

He is a local committee member of the party at Kuruppinkulangara. The clippings of Omanakuttan collecting money has been publicised. It has also been alleged that he collected money as rent for the vehicle bringing food items to the camp from civil supplies depot. Cherthala tahasildar has asked him to return the money and it was wrong from his side to have collected the money. The government is giving money for all expenses and action will be taken against Omanakuttan, he said. Alappuzha district committee member P P Chitharanjan also said the party will take action against him.
