NEW DELHI: India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that though the nation is very much committed to 'No First Use' of nuclear doctrine, it might be forced to change its mind in future due to circumstances. The minister made this statement through his official Twitter page.

The defence minister's statement is seen crucial by many as tensions have developed between India and Pakistan after the Indian government decided to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. He made the statement soon after visiting Pokhran, where India conducted its nuclear test. He also took the opportunity to pay tributes to AB Vajpayee who was India's Prime Minister at that time. "Pokhran is the area which witnessed Atal Ji’s firm resolve to make India a nuclear power and yet remain firmly committed to the doctrine of ‘No First Use’. India has strictly adhered to this doctrine. What happens in future depends on the circumstances," he said.

Singh also posted several pictures of his visit on his Twitter page. It must be noted that 'No Nuclear First Use' doctrine assures that nuclear powers will not be involved in nuclear strikes during crisis situations.
