KOTTAYAM: In the case in which three persons were found dead in a homestay in Thekkady, the post-mortem report has revealed that Jeeva Asoka, one among them, was murdered. She was strangled and smothered to death.
Azhoor Perumkuzhi Karikattu vila resident Pramod (40), mother Shobhana (60), Pramod’s second wife and Chennai Kancheepuram Sapthagiri Nagar native Jeeva Asoka (39) were found dead in the homestay on July 31.
Jeeva was found lying dead on the bed while Shobhana and Pramod were found hanging. Bodies were found lying in two rooms.
The death of Pramod and Shobhana were confirmed as suicide cases by hanging in the post mortem report.
According to the police both mother and son may have committed suicide after killing Jeeva.
Billionaire Jeeva had acres of land in Tamil Nadu and an attempt had been made by Pramod and Shobhana to own the land. In between, Jeeva’s parents distanced themselves from her after she eloped with Pramod, soon after getting divorce from her first husband. Still, the father deposited 6.5 lakh in Jeeva’s bank account. She also had got Rs 3.5 lakh alimony. Jeeva’s family added she also had 80 sovereigns with her.
Pramod and Shobana had persuaded Jeeva to sell her land, following which they reached Kambam Puthupally with a land broker.
To sell the land and for related works, they had checked in to the homestay three months ago. By this time, the family had lived a luxury life after selling gold and frittering away money in Jeeva’s bank account. The ornaments on Jeeva’s body were also found to be imitation gold.
