KANNUR: Motion of no-confidence was passed at Kannur Corporation as LDF loses the Mayor position and administration. The UDF supported Deputy Mayor P.K. Ragesh. The motion was passed with 28 votes against 26 votes.

In a house with 55 members, LDF and UDF share 27 seats each. LDF secured the corporation with the backing of the Congress rebel P.K. Ragesh. However, in the Lok Sabha election, Ragesh publicly declared his support for K. Sudhakaran which initiated the discussion of change in administration. The election was done through a secret ballot. As there was a possibility of conflict, the Congress members had asked for police protection.
