KOZHIKODE: The forest department filed a case against a groom for choosing an elephant to travel to marriage venue from home. A case was registered against Sameeh R K of Vatakara. Apart from him, a case has been taken against the mahout and the elephant owner under the Elephant Conservation Act. Sameeh’s marriage was on August 18.
The bridegroom arrived on an elephant back to the bride’s house. A case was taken after a complaint was lodged to the forest department along with the video of it. The use of elephants for this type of celebrations is against the Elephant Conservation Act.
