ALAPPUZHA: Two policemen travelling in an official vehicle without wearing a seat belt have been transferred. The district police chief transferred them after a video on it was circulated. Additional sub inspector Virendra Kumar of Aroor station was transferred to Kayamkulam and assistant sub inspector Sidharth who drove the vehicle was transferred to A R camp. The action was taken after an investigating report was submitted by special branch DySP as per the instruction of police chief K M Tomy. Action was taken after a video of a motorist following a police vehicle and questioning them for not wearing seat belt, went viral.

Meantime, as the police had not lodged a complaint against the youth for obstructing official duty, a case was not registered against him. District police chief informed that departmental level action will be taken against the officials.

The policemen got trapped in the camera while they were returning to the station after the escort duty of Srilankan Minister. Assistant sub inspector was in the driving seat and ASI in the side seat. The biker following a police vehicle rides in front of the vehicle and asks police to put on a seat belt. But despite repeated requests by the biker, the policeman in the vehicle refused to wear the seat belt. When the biker asks if there is any problem, the police says what he wants if they don’t wear a seat belt? Soon, the biker stops his vehicle, keeps it across their vehicle and walks towards them and asks what you would do to ordinary people like us if we don’t wear seat belt. All these were being recorded in the biker’s helmet ‘Gopro Action Camera’.
