KOCHI: The vigilance questioned former minister V K Ibrahim Kunju related to the corruption in Palarivattom over bridge. He was summoned to the vigilance office and interrogated by DySP Ashok Kumar.
The investigating team had earlier informed the vigilance court in Moovattupuzha that some people has to be questioned in connection with the corruption in the construction of Palarivattom over bridge. As part of the probe, he was summoned for interrogation.
However, the former minister’s response was that he just gave nod for the construction of the bridge and officials are responsible for it. It is the duty of the officials to check how much cement and wire is needed for the bridge and the road and is not the minister’s job. If the officers in charge don’t look at it, then they are to be found guilty. The minister has only the administrative sanction of projects. If any problem occurs after that, it should either be brought to the notice of the minister or a complaint should be lodged. The former minister had earlier stated that none of this has happened in the case of Palarivattom.
The vigilance found that there was massive corruption in the construction of Palarivattom over-bridge to make profit. The contractors, consultancy and the firm who supervised have been arraigned in the case.
