KOLLAM: A husband whose name appeared in the police list of missing persons was picked up from his own house recently. It was Sudarshan Babu who was arrested by District Crime Branch missing person tracking unit.
Sudarshan’s wife had lodged the missing complaint in Kollam police station 18 years ago. However, the husband returned home after a few days but this was not reported to the police station.
The man who was living happily with his family was taken into custody by the police the other day. The incident related to the case happened in 2001.
Sudarshan Babu boarded train to his sister’s house in Gujarat. After that there was no word from him and this prompted his wife to lodge the complaint on May 22, 2001.
Now, it is the carelessness of his wife to withdraw the complaint from the East Police Station that has landed him in this awkward situation for no fault of his own.
Unaware of Sudarshan Babu’s return, the police handed over the man missing list to the police unit that tracked missing persons. The other day the police arrived at his Manakkadu house and took him into custody. He was later produced in the court, which allowed him to go with his family members.
The police later explained that the action against him was just part of the legal procedures of the case.
