PARAVUR: A youth is suspected to have been beaten to death and his body lowered into the sea using ropes by a four member gang. Police have taken two people into custody in this connection. The dead person has been almost identified as Pravur Randuthai Veliyil Manoharan’s son Manu (Kakan Mani, 27).

His father had given a missing complaint, stating that his son had been missing since July 19. In the investigation conducted thereafter, it was found to be a case of murder but the police are yet release the details of the suspected crime.

There was drunken brawl on July 19 by around 10 pm at Paravur bar between fisherman Manu and another gang. Later, when Manu went out, the accused gang members followed him and beat him up. After he fell dead, he was carried on their scooter and the body was dumped in the sea after tying it with ropes.

The visuals of the murder was obtained when Punnapra SI Siva Prasad and team examined the CCTV cameras, according to sources.
In connection with the incident, DySP P M Baby and team have taken into custody two Punnapra Paravur natives and are currently interrogating them.

One is said to have confessed to the crime. But the second person’s statement is that Manu got off their bike and walked off in the midway.
Now, the police are waiting for taking out the body and its post-mortem in orderto get a clear picture of the crime.

Meanwhile, the police said Manu had earlier severely hacked the brother of one of the attackers. And Manu might have been beaten to death revengefully.
