THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala's Congress leadership has found itself in a dilemma as its leaders began criticizing each other for praising PM Narendra Modi. Earlier, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala had criticized Shashi Tharoor for praising the prime minister. Now, Vadakkanchery MP K Muraleedharan has also joined Chennithala in attacking Tharoor by saying that those who support and praise Modi should leave the Congress.
According to Muraleedharan, the people of Kerala are against Narendra Modi and it was this anti-Modi sentiment that reflected in the 2019 Lok Sabha election in the state. While all other 19 MPs from Kerala have a stand against Modi, Tharoor should not be an exception. "If Tharoor still wants to oppose the party by praising Modi then he should better leave the party," he added. He also took a dig at Tharoor by adding that the latter's recent praise on Modi might be because he hopes to escape from the murder case by pleasing the Prime Minister.
Muraleedharan also added that the Narendra Modi-led government has not been able to achieve anything remarkable since 2014. He said, "The government has caused only difficulties to the people and the recent Kashmir bill is another example. They have been able to achieve nothing apart from building toilets throughout North India." Even the Shiv Sena has come up criticizing the central government which is a testament of its failure, he added. He also took the opportunity to accuse Election Commission of favouring the BJP through its decision to conduct the Manjeshwaram re-election later than Pala re-election.
