Joju George is at an unexpected height in his film career. After the success of ‘Joseph’, he was seen in hit maker Joshy’s Porinju Mariam Jose as Kattalan Porinju.
‘This was unlikely to happen two years ago. This change happened after ‘Joseph’, said Joju. He has eight films in Malayalam and Tamil. Joju started his career as a junior artiste and has been in the industry for more than two decades.
Joju talks about his new film…
This project was on for quite some time. Many actors were intended to do the role of Porinju in the film. Chemban Vinod was chosen for Jose in the beginning itself. But for Mariam and Porinju, many came in and left halfway. There were many who were not interested in the film because I was cast for the role of Porinju. That is quite natural, I am not that successful. However, the confidence Joshy Sir had in me doing the role, changed everything.
Joju said, “This film is a celebration, and a gift for the Keralites from master director Joshy Sir, who adores films. This film is also one of his super hit films. I am not saying this just because I acted in this film. That is a belief you have in Joshy Sir. Not just faith, but is the same feeling I felt after watching the film.
Chemban and Nyla have been my friends for years. This film is about the relationship between, Porinju, Mariam and Jose. So it was possible to discuss each other from the most basic level to the character and the situations and stay with Sir for the better.
Joseph was a biggest change in my career and life. After Joseph, things happened that surprised us. The biggest plus point is that I was able to act will all my favourite directors both in Malayalam and Tamil. It is a thing which makes you happy, he said.
