NEW DELHI: The Congress leadership had found itself in a dilemma as some leaders began criticizing each other over the topic of praising PM Narendra Modi. Top leaders such as Ramesh Chennithala and K Muraleedharan had come up against Shashi Tharoor MP for his remark that Modi should be praised for some of his good works. Now, Tharoor has come up with a reply to all those criticisms.

According to Tharoor, his tweets were misunderstood by many as an appeal to praise Modi. He said that he has been one of the biggest critics of the Modi government and what he meant by his tweet was that it is not right to criticize Modi unnecessarily. The criticism must be creative and the Congress cannot stage a comeback if the leaders continue to blame everything on Modi, he said. Tharoor also took the opportunity to take a jibe at Muraleedharan by saying that he is being criticized by someone who returned to the party before 8 years.

Tharoor also pointed out that the Congress leadership should raise issues such as the water crisis and the refilling of gas cylinders in rural areas against the government. "Though the BJP was able to win a greater number of seats in the 2019 elections, its government has not been able to sort out the water crisis in the country. Though it provided gas connections to several families in rural areas it has failed to address the issue of refilling the cylinders. We need to have creative criticism against the government by raising such issues," he said. Only be such creative criticism can the Congress make an impact in the minds of people and thereby will be able to make a strong comeback, he added. Meanwhile, the KPCC has sought an explanation from Tharoor regarding his statements.
