Residents of Thiruvananthapuram Kowdiar Kakkodiyil have raised the complaint about their discomfiture in walking through a walkway as condoms lie all over it.

The awkward situation in the area is that those who are living here and those who come to this place are not able to pass through this path unless they negotiate the condum-dotted pathway.

The first time the residents spotted condoms was when the path was dug for tarring. Innumerable condoms started emerging from the mud at that time.

Incidentally, the work for tarring the road started only after a long wait.

Travelling through the existing mudded pathway in itself has been very difficult. As many as 45 families are living here. How did condom come here? There is nothing mysterious about it. The reason for this is the Hindustan Latex Lifecare in the nearby Oolampara.

It was this condom-production company that gave the sand for filling the path before tarring. The first sign of condom was spotted when pits were dug for waste pipe. These condoms were the waste dumped by the company.

As it started raining the condoms started floating in the area. Meanwhile, HLL Life care company authorities have said, disposing condom in the sand is a usual practice.

But now, as the situation has gone out of their control, and they face opposition of the locals, the company is getting ready to remove the condom waste.
