Soundarya was a sweet actress who became familiar to Malayalis through films such as Kilichundan Mampazham, and Yathrakkarude Shraddhaykku.
Soundarya’s fatal plane accident happened when she was shining in the South Indian films.
In the 2004 plane accident, Soundarya and her brother died but now Tamil director R V Udayakumar’s revelation about her is being widely discussed.
Udayakumar says that it was he who gave her a chance in cinema .
“Soundarya would call me Annan (brother) but initially I didn’t like it. I told her to call me Sir, in front of others.
But, later, I started seeing her as my sister and she again started calling me Anna.
She had a special affection towards me. She invited me for marriage but I couldn’t go due to some inconvenience.
After doing the Kandna remake of Chandramukhi, she called her. She told me that it would be her last film and she was two-month-old pregnant.
That day she talked to me and wife over the phone for about one hour,” Udayakumar recalled. But, the next day I came to know about her death only when I saw TV.
I was shocked. I had not been able to go to any function she had invited me for and it was for the funeral ceremony that I went to her house.
I went to her house and saw her beautiful house. When I entered the house, I was startled to see a big photo of mine hanging on a wall there. I could not control my tears,” Udayakumar said.
Udayakumar made this revelation during the audio launch of his new film Thundgan
