Actress Vijayasree was once the most admired actress in the Malayalam film industry. There was no other actress who had as many male admirers as she had. No other actress had as many hits as her in such a short time. She was the key to success in all the commercial films in Malayalam at that time. The actress was just 21 when she committed suicide. The mystery of whether the actress committed suicide or not remains unanswered.

Actress Sreelatha Namboodiri in an interview to a channel said, “I don’t believe that her death was a suicide. We have acted together in many films and I know her very well. I don’t think she will commit suicide.”

“She was very close to me. She had a very good figure. Her death is still a mystery. I cannot believe that she committed suicide. She had a lover. She wanted to marry him. When there was no shooting, we used to travel a lot in Madras,” she said.

“I came to know about her suicide when I was shooting in Bangalore. What I heard then was that she collapsed after having a tea. She was just 21 then,” she said.
