KOCHI: The Kerala High Court said that those who have not received compensation for the 2018 floods should be paid within a month. The court directed the government to pay compensation to those found eligible for it within a month.
The court gave the crucial direction while considering the pleas stating that financial aid is being delayed. The court asked the government how many people have been compensated so far.
The court pointed that there are many who have not been compensated despite appeals. They also directed to publish in the website the details of the new applications received. However, the government asked more time to prepare it.
The government argued that this year's floods followed by last year’s increased the workload of the officers and resulted in busy work related to relief work. The court later granted them one and a half months’ time to publish it.
