MALAPPURAM: Police arrested a man who tried to create communal conflict by throwing human excreta in a temple here in Valancherry. Edayur native Ramakrishnan was arrested by the police. The police said the accused attempt was to create communal violence. He destroyed the idol and the seat of Nagas, after which he threw human excreta in the temple.

The incident was at Sree Dharmashastha Temple in Karekode, Neythalappuram on Monday. The police registered a case and began the probe. The police examined evidence in the presence of the accused. As there is a possibility of conflict, a large group of police was deployed in the area during evidence examination.

The accused has been remanded for 14 days by the Tirur Court.
