It has been five months since a Mohanlal movie has hit the theatres in Kerala. It is 'Ittymaani: Made in China,' directed by debutants Jibi Joju, which marks the comeback of the superstar after the blockbuster film 'Lucifer.' In a recent interview, the star has opened up about the film.

Mohanlal shared that he will be playing the character of Ittymaani, a wealthy man based in Thrissur. Interestingly, the actor will be seen using the Thrissur slang after more than 30 years. He also said that the character has very little similarities with Jayakrishnan, the character he played in Thoovanathumbikal which is also based in Thrissur. "Apart from the fact that both characters will be using Thrissur slangs, there are no similarities between them. We haven't focused much on the Thrissur slang in the film. However, the film might have certain scenes similar to that of Thoovanathumbikal," he said.

'Ittymaani' has also has become the first Malayalam film to be made in China. He said, "Ittymaani has certain connections with China. He was born and brought up in China until he was 10 years old."

The superstar also spoke about his upcoming epic film 'Marakkar, Arabikkadalinte Simham.' He said, "The film is about Kunjali Marakkar, a legendary sailor about whom we all have studied in our schools and colleges. It is made on a large canvas and we are all proud about how the film has shaped up. We also intend to dedicate this film to the Indian Navy. The film makes use of various technological advances in film making."

According to him, 'Marakkar' would belong to the list of iconic films such as 'Kaalapani', 'Vanaprastham', 'Manichitrathazhu' and 'Lucifer'. "Those are films that did exceptionally well at the academic level. I am sure that "Marakkar' too belongs to that league," he said. When asked about Prithviraj's comment about Marakkar doing extraordinary pre-release collections, the superstar said, "I don't know much about the film's pre-business collections. But I can definitely say that the film will give confidence to those filmmakers who dream to make films in such huge canvas Hopefully, the film will open the doors to a much bigger market to Malayalam cinema."
