KOTTAYAM: UDF candidate Tom Jose Pulikkunnel will have to contest as an independent in the Pala by-polls. KC (M) leader P J Joseph said he will not sign in Jose’ nomination papers.

Jose Tom will not be considered as a party candidate as he is not backed by P J Joseph and so will not get the party symbol.

However, Joseph said he will support Jose Tom as he is the candidate of the UDF.

“Jose is contesting as an independent of the UDF. Will work for his win. He is a candidate supported by the Kerala Congress but will not be contesting in Kerala Congress’ symbol. Will campaign actively for Jose Tom and the UDF convenor has invited me for it,” he said.
