kovalam

Kovalam is a world famous tourist spot. Tourists including foreigners coming to Kerala won’t return without visiting the sun-kissed beaches and sea at Kovalam.

Meanwhile, there was a recent warning from Intelligence agencies that there are chances for terrorists to sneak into India through Kovalam by sea route in the wake of Kashmir lockdown.

Against this backdrop, veteran journalist K G Pameswaran Nair has made a suggestion for handing over the security of Kovalam to the Defence Ministry.

In an article written on Kerala Kaumudi, Parameswaran Nair has said that Kovalam is not only an important tourist sport but also a place that has strategical importance.

This place is large expanse of land with its corner jutting into the sea. Lying not far away from the capital of Kerala, Kovalam has on its north side the Thiruvananthapuram international airport and a space research centre. These factors increase the importance of the strategical importance of the place. Hence its security should be brought under Defence Ministry,” he says.
