NEW DELHI: Jaish-e-Mohammed head Masood Azhar, Lashkar-e-Taiba leader Hafiz Saeed, underworld terrorist Dawood Ibrahim and Lashkar commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi were on Wednesday declared as "individual terrorists" under the newly amended UAPA law passed the Parliament.
India had earlier announced that both Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed will be the first two to be declared as per the new UAPA bill. While Masood was the master brain behind the 2001 Parliament attack and last year's Pulwama attack, it was Hafiz who was behind the Mumbai attack in 2008. Hafiz also features in NIA's most wanted list. The new bill forbids terrorists from travelling and allows the authorities to confiscate their properties.
The UN Security Council had declared Masood as an international terrorist in May this year. Dawood Ibrahim, the mastermind behind 1993 Mumbai blasts, is believed to be living in Pakistan.
