KOCHI: The Kerala High Court is intervening in the strike staging by CITU employees of the Muthoot Finance. The court informed that the protestors have no right to stop employees from coming to work in the Muthoot branch. The court also ordered that employees should be allowed to function smoothly. The court also directed the police and the government to provide adequate protection to the employees. The court passed the order on the plea of employees not participating in the Muthoot strike.
Meantime, Muthoot Finance managing director George Alexander Muthoot informed that if there are no other options more than 300 branches shut due to the CITU strike will be closed permanently. He told media that the branches will be closed in phases with the permission of the Reserve Bank in wake of the blockade of CITU activists.
The meet called by Minister T P Ramakrishnan to settle the labour dispute and strike at Muthoot Finance had to be postponed as the management representatives failed to attend. Talks will be held in Kochi on September 9th. The minister said by e-mail the Muthoot Management has sent a message stating their inconvenience to attend the meet. The minister said they decided to hold talks again in order to settle the issue.
