KOLLAM/KANNUR: Three people were killed when buildings collapsed in Kollam and Kannur. Renjith and Chandhu died when earth caved in on top of a building at Puthenkkulam near Paripally at Paravoor in Kollam. Three sustained injuries.

The incident happened early Friday morning at 3 am. Earth caved in on top of the building where five were staying. The remains of a theatre demolished near the building were piled up there. The wall adjacent to the building was damaged in the heavy rains that lashed the place.

Reports say the two dead were mahouts. The bodies have been shifted to Paripally Medical College Hospital.

Sarojini, a native of Kannur died when her house collapsed in the heavy rains.
