KOCHI: The state govt has started the procedure to implement the SC order to demolish illegal apartments in Maradu. The government has notified to vacate the residents of the flats immediately. The additional chief secretary has notified the district collector and Maradu municipality to implement the orders immediately. The SC has allotted time till September 20 to demolish the apartments.
The top court issued order to demolish apartments in Maradu that violated Coastal Regulation rules on May 8. Flats of Holiday Heritage, Jain Housing, Kayaloram, Holy Fait and Alpha Ventures was ordered to be demolished. Flat owners claim that the SC had issued without hearing their part. The SC had directed to submit report immediately after demolishing the flats. The SC bench presided by judge Arun Misra had ordered the chief secretary to report on September 23rd after the order is implemented.
