NEW DELHI: Soon after Union Home Minister Amit Shah posted a tweet advocating the usage of Hindi language throughout the country, Asaduddin Owaisi came up criticizing the minister for his comments, Owaisi said that India is much bigger than Hindi, Hindu and Hindutva. Owaisi made the comment through his Twitter page.

According to Owaisi, Amit Shah seems to be dissatisfied with the diversity and beauty of the many mother tongues in the nation. He further pointed out that article 29 of the constitution gives every Indian the right to a distinct language. He said, "Hindi isn't every Indian's "mother tongue". Could you try appreciating the diversity & beauty of the many mother tongues that dot this land? Article 29 gives every Indian the right to a distinct language, script & culture. India's much bigger than Hindi, Hindu, Hindutva."

Earlier, Amit Shah had tweeted that Hindi can unify India and hence must be promoted as the primary language so that it can represent the country in the world. The Home Minister made the comment as part of the 'One Nation, One Language' program held in connection with the 'Hindi Diwas.'
