NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court asked the state government to clarify on whether the memory card containing the video clippings of the actress attack case is an evidence or a document. The apex court directed the government to give a reply today itself while considering actor Dileep’s plea demanding a copy of the memory card.
However, the government informed the Supreme Court that the memory card is a document. Memory card is an object. Renjith Kumar, counsel for the government, said the video clippings of the card is a document. Even if it is a document, it should not be handed over to Dileep. The government told the court that the actress’ safety and privacy should be considered. Meantime, Dileep informed the court that if it is a document then he deserves to obtain the memory card.
Dileep told the court that he would be able to prove his innocence if he gets a copy of the visuals. Dileep filed a plea stating that the visuals have been morphed and to prove his innocence needs a copy of it. The actress in her plea had stated that there are possibilities for the visuals to be leaked and misuse of it. There has already been a lot of pressure in the case. The actress requested to respect her privacy.
Senior advocate Renjith Kumar appeared for the government and Mukul Rohatgi for Dileep.
