kidnap

EDAVANNAPPARA: A bunch of locals, on Monday, severely beat up two men travelling in a car based on the complaint of a ninth standard student that an attempt was made to kidnap him.

But only later, did the police come to realise that the narrative of the student was a figment of imagination. The incident happened at around 10 am near Chetthupalam.

The student told the locals that she was sitting at Chetthupalam bus stand while two men came to him in a car, opened its door and tried to push him into the car. He wriggled out of their grab and escaped. In that struggle, his uniform was torn.

After that, the student along with his father lodged a complaint with Vazhakkadu police station. Soon after this, the police started the investigation with the help of CCTV visuals. Police checked several vehicles and asked two suspects to be present at the police station. When these two men were going to the police station, they were surrounded and beaten up by some locals; they had to be admitted in Kozhikode Medical College.

On being thoroughly quizzed, the boy spilled the beans and the police came to know that what the boy said was a cooked-up story. Monday was the day when he would be getting Onam exam marks. He was scared about the result. Moreover, he had made a bet with her friends on some matter and had to give the bet money to that friend. Due to all these reason the student planned such a drama. He had torn his shirt on his own.

Meanwhile, the police have filed a case against a few identifiable persons, for assaulting the two car travellers and disrupting their duty.
