KOCHI: Latest reports suggest that former Minister VK Ebrahimkunju will be soon questioned regarding the Palarivattom flyover scam. Reports suggest that former PWD Secretary TO Sooraj has raised serious allegations against Ebrahimkunju who was also the chairman of Roads and Bridges Corporation of Kerala. Sooraj said that it was Ebrahimkunju who handed over Rs 8.25 crores in advance to the private company that built the flyover. Following this, the vigilance officials have started focusing on the former minister's dealings.
Though the vigilance officials had asked Ebrahimkunju to appear for questioning, he failed to appear citing health issues. Earlier, the former minister had said that all the procedures were done according to the government's schemes and he had nothing to do with the scam. He had also denied handing over any money directly to the company However, all these claims were denied by Sooraj. Sooraj added that it was Ebrahimkunju who asked him to commit the mistakes which were mentioned in the case. It was the former minister who ordered the handing over of advance without any interest, Sooraj said.
Meanwhile, Vigilance official said that investigation is taking place in full swing. "More people will be questioned soon. However, we cannot divulge any details regarding the arrests.," an official said. Officials will also oppose the bail applications of the accused. Meanwhile, the High court has sought an explanation from the Vigilance regarding the bail applications filed by Sooraj and Roads and Bridges Corporation Assistant General Manager MT Thankachan.
