KOCHI: Former PWD Secretary T O Sooraj has pointed a finger against former Public Works Minister Ebrahimkunju and Mohammed Hanish, who was in charge of RBDCK, related to the corruption in Palarivattom Bridge. He was responding to the media when brought to the court as his remand period will end today.
Sooraj said mobilization fund was permitted with free of interest. I intervened and decided to charge interest on it. There is no harm in paying Rs 8.25 crore to the construction company RDS. Sooraj repeatedly said the money was paid with the knowledge of Ebrahimkunju.
He added that the state government had not suffered any loss as it had received an interest of 7%. This would not have happened without the knowledge of Muhammed Haneesh, who was in charge of the RBDC, he said. All these things have been mentioned in the bail plea.
Besides Sooraj, the remand period of Sumit Goyal, MD of RDS Company who built the bridge, KITCO general manager Benny Paul and KITCO official Thankachan will end today. The vigilance has sought an extension of their custody.
