MAVELIKKARA: Ajith Kumar (43) of Chettikulangara and accused in many criminal cases committed suicide along with his dog. Kumar was a man of criminal character but a dog lover. Leaving his pet dog alone was unbearable for him and so took him along while taking the extreme step.

The body of Ajith Kumar (43) of Chettikulangara was found lying near the railway track and his dog was found lying next to him in pieces. Police said Kumar may have jumped before the train along with the dog.

Ajith Kumar was an accused in murder attempt, trespass of house and abkari cases. The excise team had nabbed him many times for brewing hooch when toddy was banned. When he got bored with this, he started goondaism. He had attacked the police and fled from their hands many times. When many cases were against him, the police warned him to lead a normal life. He later led a good life.

The locals said Ajith Kumar loved dogs a lot. He had an Alsatian dog and used to travel with it in his bike. The two had a good bonding. Kumar was a bachelor. He was a drug addict and used to create an uproar after drunk. There was an incident in which his mother had lodged a complaint at the Mavelikkara police unable to bear his behaviour.
