KASARGOD: Some outbursts were witnessed in the Muslim League in connection with the selection of candidates in the Manjeswaram by-polls. The youth league refused to accept outsiders as the candidate. Muslim League leader P K Kunhalikutty said a decision on the candidate will not be taken today.
The league leadership suggested the name of M C Khamarudeen during the talks held today. A section of the local leaders and youth leaders refused to accept this. They suggested the name of AKM Ashraf, a youth league leader.
They proposed the name of Ashraf pointing his popularity in the constituency and his efficiency to manage local languages. Meantime, Muslim league district general secretary Khamarudeen was considered as a candidate and excluded many times in the past. So a section of the local leaders demanded to consider his name.
A verbal dispute broke out at the high powered panel meet held today. Following the scuffle, they decided not to take a decision today. As a dispute broke out for Khamarudeen and Ashraf, the party leadership is thinking of a third person.
