KANNUR: Kannur police will today (Tuesday) record the arrest of a differently-abled person, who had put up a fake Whatsapp post that CPM leader P Jayarajan was going to join the BJP.

The accused is a differently-abled person and Edavanna native Chathalloor Valiya Peediyekkal K Noushad and he is now in police custody.

He was picked up from Malappuram on Monday and was taken to Town Station. The post was put up in the group in which Noushad is the admin.

“Kotakkal native Hameed who spread the message to more people will be taken into custody,” Kannur DySP P P Sadhanandan told Kerala Kaumudi.

Meanwhile, there are hints that the accused will be granted station bail since he is differently-abled. Police added that there would be more arrests in connection with the circulation of the fake message.

Noushad is a Muslim League loyalists and his WhatsApp group is being kept alive by League workers. P Jayarajan had come out with the explanation on the fake news that he would be joining BJP.
