KOZHIKODE: The court remanded Muhammed Jasim arrested in a sexual abuse case. After taking her to Sarovaram Park, he gave her juice laced with drugs and then abused her sexually. The Kundamangalam Court remanded him for 14 days.

He has been charged with rape, unlawful detention and intimidation. However, medical college circle inspector Mooza Vallikkadan said that a probe is on the complaint that there was a conversion attempt. Jazim, a native of Naduvannur of Kozhikode, surrendered at the medical college station last evening.

The case is that the 19-year-old-girl of an exam training centre in Kozhikode was taken to Sarovaram Partk in the pretext of love and abused her sexually on July 25. He even threatened to kill her if she complained. On August 2, he stopped the car in which she was travelling and threatened her.

Though the complaint lodged to the police commissioner mentioned that the accused tried to convert her, a case has not been taken against him on this complaint. The stand of the police is that a case can be registered only after a detailed probe. The case is being observed by the NIA based on the complaint given to many including the union home minister. But the police was not ready to respond on it.
