SHIVPURI: In a shocking incident, two Dalit children were allegedly beaten to death by a group of people for defecating in public. The incident happened on Wednesday at Bhavkedhi village in Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh. The deceased have been identified as Roshani (12) and Avinash (10).

Sources said that both the children, who suffered serious injuries from the beating, died before they were brought to the hospital. It is learnt that the police have arrested two people, named Hakkim Yadav and Rameshwar Yadav, in relation to the case.

The children's father said that they were the victims of caste discrimination which is very much prevalent in the region. According to him, the Dalits were allowed to use the public taps only after all others finished using it. He also added that both Hakkim and Rameshwar had threatened to kill him following a brawl regarding caste discrimination. Meanwhile, police have intensified security in the area.
