BHOPAL: The state of Madhya Pradesh has been witnessing a political turmoil ever since reports said that over 4000 videos and pictures involving prominent personalities have been recovered by the police. Reports said that several politicians, film stars, government officials and many others were trapped by the high profile gang, thereby making it the largest honey trap case in the country.

As of now, police have arrested five people in relation to the case. The arrested gang members have been identified as Aarti Dayal, Monica Yadav, Shwetha Vijay Jain, Shweta Swapnial Jain, Barkha Soni and Om Prakash Kori. It is learnt that the gang members used to seduce men using women and thereby recording their nude pictures and videos. Later, they began demanding money from the men by blackmailing them using nude pictures and videos. It was the complaint filed by Indore Municipal Corporation Engineer Harbhajan Singh which led to the arrest of the gang.

However, what is even more shocking is the report that the accused used to have great influence in state politics. Madhya Pradesh Congress Vice President Arunoday Choubey alleged that Shwetha Vijay Jain used to campaign for BJP in 2013 and 2018 elections. He also presented a video clip proving this. Congress also said that Shwetha was closely linked with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Meanwhile, reports suggest that another accused Shweta Swapnial Jain used to live in the bungalow belonging to BJP MLA Bijendra Prathap Singh. On the other hand, it is learnt that Barkha Soni has been an active member of the Congress party. Police are also investigating the involvement of her husband who happens to be the IT cell member of the Congress.

Reports also suggest that the honey trap case was not confined to Madhya Pradesh alone. PCC chief Mohan Markam accused former Chattisgarh CM Raman Singh of being involved in the case. However, the BJP has denied these claims. Officials leading the investigation are taking special care to ensure that the recovered videos do not get leaked to the public.
