NEW YORK: Hours after Indian PM Narendra Modi advocated for peace and fight against terrorism at the UN General Assembly, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan hinted at a potential war with India over the Kashmir issue. Khan made the remark during his address at the General Assembly.
According to Imran Khan, India has been provoking his country by ill-treating the innocent people of Kashmir. He also added that the situation is so bad that Pakistan will have to resort to its nuclear weapons in order to survive. "When a country, seven times smaller than its neighbour, faces a choice either to surrender or to fight for your freedom till death, what will you do? Yes, we will fight and when a nuclear-armed country decides to fight till the end, it will have consequences far beyond the border and for the world," he said.
The Pakistani PM even went to the extent of saying that the Indian army is planning to murder innocent people of Kashmir, once the ongoing curfew is lifted.
Khan who spoke for 50 minutes, 30 minutes more than the allotted time, took the opportunity to bring the Kashmir issue into international attention. Earlier, Indian Prime Minister had said at the same venue that the country opts for peace rather than war.
