Though O Rajagopal had earlier in the day come out with a casual statement that Kummanam Rajasekharan would be the BJP candidate for the Vattiyoorkavu by-election, uncertainty continues over his candidature.

According to reports, the district unit of the BJP has been given instruction to suspend the campaign for Kummanam.

Earlier, it was informed that Kummanam would reach Vattiyoorkavu Sunday morning and start campaigning for votes. This was informed by BJP leader and MLA O Rajagopal. He made this announcement during his visit to a house in Vattiyoorkavu, which marked the beginning of election campaign.

Meanwhile, it is said that though RSS has been pressuring the BJP leadership to choose Kummanam as the candidate, a section of BJP leaders is against his candidature.
