KOLLAM: An intelligence report has said PDP leader Abdul Nazer Madani’s current health condition is worrisome. Though the Karnataka has not made any official communication on this with Kerala, the intelligence wing has sent this letter, quoting PDP leaders and Madani’s family as saying.

According to the report, the body weight of Madani, who is currently under treatment in a private Bangalore hospital, has shrunk to 44 kg. Earlier, when he was arrest after being accused in the Coimbatore bomb blast case, his weight was 110 kg. When he reached home after nine and a half years’ jail life, his weight was 60 kg. His weight started reducing when he was in jail in Bangalore.

Though the court had released him from jail for treatment, he is under police guard in the Bangalore city. He has permission to step out of the house in Bangalore only for going to courts or for treatment purposes.

Madani’s wife Soofiya, younger son Salahuddin Ayoobi and two helpers are staying with him. He has lost sensation in the remaining part of his left leg that was amputated below knee following a bomb attack on him. He is not able to walk with his right leg, resulting in serious health issues. He is also worried over the hollowness he feels on his right leg.

He has lost the normal warm temperature of his body and his body keeps shivering even during hot weather. Many of his diseases are yet to be diagnosed, according to PDP leaders. Apart from the above diseases, lifestyle diseases are also haunting him.

The trial in Madani’s case had to be suspended due to his health condition. His health condition came to be discussed again only after his loyalists formed Save Madani forum in his home town Shasthamkotta and held rally and public meetings.
