THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Soon after the BJP leadership announced that it will field S Suresh as its candidate in Vattiyoorkavu by-election, former state president Kummanam Rajashekaran has come up supporting the party's decision. Kummanam said that he readily accepted the party's move to field Suresh as the candidate.
Kummanam said that he is ready to sacrifice anything in order to make sure that Suresh wins the election. "As a disciplined member of the BJP, I happily welcome the party's decision to field S Suresh as its candidate in Vattiyoorkavu constituency. I would like to extend my whole-hearted support to Suresh," he said. Meanwhile, Suresh expressed confidence in winning the election. He said, "The central leadership has given me a huge responsibility and I look forward to fulfilling it by winning the election." Suresh added that he too had expected Kummanam to be the party's candidate in the constituency. He also added that the party leadership considered various factors regarding the constituency before naming him as the candidate.
Earlier, there were several reports which suggested that the party was thinking to field Kummanam as its candidate in Vattiyoorkavu. BJP MLA O Rajagopal too had hinted that Kummanam had agreed to contest in the by-election.
