“BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan is not a person who strives to reach any particular position. He usually keeps away from all top posts and honours. When we tried to make him the Vattiyoorkavu candidate, he politely refused it. He is a great person. He is very happy about my candidature. Even in small party meetings in Vattiyoorkavu, he comes forward to give his election speech. Kummanam is an obedient worker of BJP. His blessings and party work will brighten my winning prospects,” says S Suresh, the BJP candidate for Vattiyoorkavu Assembly by-election, in an interview given to Kerala Kaumudi on Monday.

Suresh says that Pala by-election result will not affect the voting trend in Vattiyoorkavu. “It was, of course, the election in which BJP scored highest number of votes in its history.

There was no vote trading and we took action against those who tried to deceive party. The UDF lost only because, there was in-fighting and factional feuds in the party.”
