THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pathanamthitta district collector has asked for Rs 25 lakh fund from Kerala government for dsiaster management and other preparations in Sabarimala ahead of Makavilakku season, when thousands of lakhs of devotees will throng the holy hill shrine. But, the government has allotted only Rs 10 lakh.

During festive seasons, the chances for dsisaters and mishaps ae common. Taking this fact into account, the collector demanded Rs 25 lakh inorder to set up Emergency Operation Centres along Sannidhanan, Pamba and Nilakkal for co-ordinating disaster manegment activities.

The government’s order, however, is to allott only Rs 10 lakh from Disaster Management Authority Plan Fund. There is also instruction not to use the fund for other purposes and submit a certificate of the utilisation on time-bound manner.
