THIRUCHIRAPALLY: Five natives of Jharkhand were nabbed in connection with the theft of gold worth 50 crore from a jewellery in Tamil Nadu’s Thiruchirapally. They gained entry into the Lalithaa jewellery showroom near the Chathram bus stand in Thiruchirapally after drilling the wall. The accused were nabbed from Coimbatore. Gold ornaments and precious jewels of 35 kilos were found stolen.

The incident came to light only after the employees opened the showroom Wednesday morning. Two men wearing masks got inside after drilling the wall on the backside of the jewellery. The incident happened Sunday early morning at 2 am. CCTV cameras installed in the showroom show two masked men entering through a drilled hole and stealing the jewels.

Men wearing masks had robbed Punjab National Bank in Tiruchirapally in January 2019. Rs 19 lakh and gold ornaments were lost from five lockers then. The investigating team is examining whether those held have any connection with this incident.
