THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan has said if the BJP leadership asks him to contest the post of Panchayat member, he will be willing to do even that.
“Personally, I’m not interested in contesting election but I shall contest even Panchayat election if the BJP asks to me…”
Kummanam said that both the CPM and Congress have fear of defeat in the Vattiyoorkavu by-election.
“If the party tells me not to contest election, I shall obey that also. Both the Congress and CPM are opportunists. It is ridiculous to see people, who depicted me as a communalist in the Lok Sabha election, praising me now,” he said this in an interview given to a prominent media on Thursday.
Meanwhile, there were rumours that Kummanam Rajasekharan’s name was struck off from the list of probable candidates for Vattiyoorkavu by-election in the last minute and S Suresh was brought in as the replacement.
This had resulted resentment among certain party workers.
The allegation from other parties was that the BJP was not ready to field Kummanam as candidate though he was ready to take up the task.
However, Kummanam’s reaction is that what is being said about him with relation to Vattiyoorkavu by-election is false propaganda.
“I won’t turn my back on Vattiyoorkavu constituency and I will continue to be an active worker here,” he added.
