THRISSUR: Police have filed a murder case against Excise officers over the incident in which a youth died in the custody of Excise officers recently.

The Excise officers who took the youth, Ranjith, into custody have been charged with the murder offence.

The post-mortem report that came out the other day says that the youth died due to torture and there were injury marks on his body.
The police initiated further probe after receiving the post-mortem report.

The case will probed by a special investigation team headed by Guruvayur ACP.

The police are collecting information from Excise officials to find out the officers involved in arresting the youth.
Additional Excise Commissioner has also recommended departmental action against the accused officers, who may be suspended very soon.
