KOZHIKODE: Police have confirmed that the deaths of six persons in a family at Koodathayil were murders. “The eye of suspicion fell on main accused Jolly after the police came to notice that she was present with victims at the time of their deaths,” Investigation officer SP K G Simon told media persons on Saturday.

According to him, the first big lie she had spread in her locality was that she was an NIT teacher and she even went about flaunting fake Identity card.

“In 2002, it was Annamma, who was first murdered. After killing her, Jolly wished to take possession of her land and house because till her death it was she who managed the affairs of the household

Jolly ‘killed’ her father-in-law Tom Thomas out of the fear that he would not part with Annamma’s property,” he said.

The SP said that all deaths were of the same character and moreover, the victims at the time of their death showed symptoms of persons who have consumed cyanide.

He affirmed that greed for property was not the only reason behind the killings and there were specific purpose behind each murder. “Jolly’s husband Roy Thomas was the third victim. Jolly decided to finish him after their relationship got strained. In the case of Roy’s death, it was his uncle Mathew M M who insisted on conducting post-mortem on Roy’s body. In 2014, Mathew was also got killed. “More evidence has to be collected in the case of Mathew’s murder and it will be detailed later,” he added.
