NEW DELHI: A Ph.D. student from Delhi has filed a police complaint claiming that she was cheated by a person who married her by posing as a DRDO scientist. The woman also stated that apart from hiding details about his first marriage, the man had also forged documents about his employment and qualifications.
According to the woman, the accused, Jitender Singh, used fake ID cards and documents in order to convince her for the marriage. Singh had claimed that he was a DRDO scientist and unmarried. However, the woman soon found out that Singh was unemployed and even had a family. She immediately filed a complaint against Singh. The woman also added that Singh had claimed that he was going to NASA before leaving home.
“On the complaint of a woman (name withheld), an FIR has been registered in Dwarka North police station under section 419 (Cheating by personation), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 494 (Marrying again during lifetime of husband or wife) of the Indian Penal Code,” Anto Alphonse, DCP Dwarka said. Police have started the investigation.
