MUNNAR: A body of a person who was missing when earth caved in at Munnar Lockhart Gap on the Kochi-Dhanuskodi national highway, has been recovered. Two natives of Tamil Nadu engaged in work as part of renovation on the national highway got trapped in the mudslide on Tuesday.

Udayan and Kamal were the two missing. The body of Udayan was recovered this morning. Search is continuing by fire force, police and revenue officials.

Three sustained injuries in the incident. Sudheer, Chinnan and Bhagyaraj are undergoing treatment in the hospital. Earth caved in while removing rocks using a JCB.

Rescue operations were difficult due to heavy rains and mist. Transportation has been disrupted following the incident.
