KOCHI: The Kerala High Court rejected the bail pleas of the three accused including T O Sooraj in the Palarivattom bridge corruption case. Bail was granted only to KITCO joint general manager Benny Paul. The other accused who filed bail pleas are the first accused RDS company director Sumit Goyal, second accused and Kerala Roads and Bridges Development Corporation assistant general manager M T Thankachan. Their bail pleas were rejected earlier by Moovattupuzha Vigilance Court. Following that they approached the high court.
The accused are in remand for the past 40 days after serious irregularities were noticed in the construction of the bridge. The investigating team opposed bail stating that they are influential and will try to destroy evidences if it is granted. The vigilance claimed that evidence against the three are strong. The court accepted it and rejected the bail pleas.
