KOZHIKODE: Shaju Zacharia’s house is near the new bridge across Chali river at Pulikkayam. The house is at this scenic spot but a pall of gloom has decended on this house.

Though Shaju and his son were seen in the front of their house, they shied away from answering to people who went there. Shaju reasoned that police had restricted him from speaking to media. “It’s like I’m in police custody,” he said.

Shaju had talked to media till yesterday but he has been keeping silence since. His father Zacharia is more irked. When confronted by some journalists , he walked off to Chali river for taking bath, saying that he had nothing to say.

Locals said Shaju and his father had rather a secluded life at Pulikkayam. Excpet one Biju living on the other side of the river, Shaju had no other friends.

Many plots in that area once belonged to the Ponnamattam family of Tom Thomas. Tom Thomas’ younger brother Dominic lived in another part of Pulikkayam. Only he and his wife Elsamma is in that house.

The other day Elsamma had come out with the allegation that there was something dubious about the death of their son Suneesh.

Interestingly, Jolly used to pay visists to this house. At that time, Elsamma only had good things to say about Jolly. Elsamma said Jolly had visited their house even after her marriage with Shaju.
