We might've come across several short filmmakers coming up with interesting and entertaining tales in recent times. But, what makes 'Savvy?', directed by Ramgopal, different is its out of the box nature that lets the viewers come up with their own stories and interpretations about the film.

Inspired from the book, 'The Tibetan Book of the Dead,' Savvy? is about the mysterious journey between life and death. Its primary character is Savvy, a contract killer, who seems to be caught up in lucid dreams. According to the director, Savvy? is a 'crime fantasy' which ponders about the mystery of death. He says, "Savvy? is an experimental English short film. Though the plot revolves around a murder, the film strives to look beyond routine questions (of 'Who?', 'How?', 'Why?' and 'Where?') that are normally associated with it. It is more like a crime fantasy. There are very few dialogues in it."

However, Ramgopal added that making such a film was not an easy task. "We have had several hurdles throughout the journey. But we went ahead with the film since we knew that a film is an end product of teamwork. The intent was to shoot a premise with many vague abstract elements and open ends so as to enable the viewer to come up with a storyline of their own that syncs with their personal preferences and sensibilities; as opposed to the usual way where the viewer tries to understand what the maker tried to convey."

Savvy? has Visakh and Padmaraj Ratheesh playing the main characters. Speaking about other aspects of the film, the technical crew deserves great applause. Be it the exceptional cinematography and editing by Prakash Rana, be it the music, art design and graphics, every element gelled so well that the end product becomes a one of a kind experience to the viewers.

Savvy? has already made it big at several short film fests across the globe. It has won a special mention at the 9th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2019. An official selection to the Lift-Off Sessions 2019 in the United Kingdom, it has also garnered praise from other international film festivals such as Druk International Film Festival in Bhutan, South Film and Arts Academy Film Festival in Chile and Confluence India International Film Festival in New Delhi and many more. Savvy?, produced by Middle of the Road Cinema and Backend Productions. is available on the Youtube channel Team Jango Space.
